What is R-Panel (PBR Panel)?

R-Panel and PBR Panel are the same profile — PBR (Purlin-Bearing R-Panel) is the modern industry name for what’s commonly still called R-Panel in the field. 36″ cover width, 1¼” major ribs spaced 12″ on-center, and a purlin-bearing leg so the panel works as roofing OR siding. Our R-Panel is 26-gauge Grade 80 steel — the contractor standard for residential roofs, carports, barns, barndominiums, and commercial roofs across Houston and Southeast Texas.

Most Galvalume R-Panel jobs need #12 self-drilling roofing screws with bonded EPDM washers (mill-finish or color-matched if you’re trimming with painted panels), foam closures at eave and ridge, ridge cap trim, gable trim, eave trim, and pipe boots for any penetrations. What’s the difference between 26-gauge and 29-gauge?
26-gauge is 0.0185″ thick — the contractor standard for Houston roofing. 29-gauge is thinner (~0.0142″) and used on cheap residential jobs. For Gulf Coast hail and wind, 26-gauge is the floor.

What does AZ55 mean?
Galvalume is a corrosion-resistant coating bonded to the steel: 55% aluminum + 43.4% zinc + 1.6% silicon. AZ55 = 0.55 ounces of coating per square foot, the higher-coverage spec used on bare panels (the painted colors use AZ50, where the paint adds extra protection). Both meet ASTM A792.

Is “same-day cut” really same-day?
For orders up to about 2,000 linear feet of stock colors, yes — call with your footage, drive over, we cut while you load. Bigger orders may need 24 hours to schedule the shear clean.
