Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between 26-gauge and 29-gauge R-Panel?
26-gauge is 0.0185″ thick — the contractor standard for Houston roofing. 29-gauge is thinner (~0.0142″) and used on cheap residential jobs. For Gulf Coast hail and wind, 26-gauge is the floor — not the ceiling.
What does AZ55 and AZ50 mean?
Galvalume is a corrosion-resistant coating bonded to the steel: 55% aluminum + 43.4% zinc + 1.6% silicon. AZ55 = 0.55 oz/sqft (used on our bare Galvalume panel). AZ50 = 0.50 oz/sqft (used on our painted colors, where the paint adds extra protection). Both meet ASTM A792.
What’s the warranty?
Bare Galvalume: 25-year substrate warranty. Painted colors: 40-year limited paint warranty (chip/peel) + 30-year fade/chalk + 25-year Galvalume substrate. Sherwin-Williams WeatherXL SMP paint system on the painted colors.
Is “same-day cut” really same-day?
For orders up to about 2,000 linear feet of stock colors, yes — call with your footage, drive over, we cut while you load. Bigger orders may need 24 hours.
What screws, closures, and trim do I need?
Most R-Panel jobs need #12 self-drilling roofing screws with bonded EPDM washers (color-matched), foam closures at eave and ridge, color-matched ridge cap, gable trim, eave trim, and pipe boots. Tell us your roof dimensions and we’ll spec the full accessory package with your panels.
